WHY am I running? I believe that growing a culture of belonging in our schools will fuel academic success for all students.
Goals for Student Success:
A- Academic rigor
A positive school climate helps students feel welcome so they can focus and flourish in the classroom.
B- Belonging across diversity
All students and staff gain when diversity, equity and inclusion are taken seriously. "I belong here" should be our guiding star.
C- Creative conflict tools
Grow resources and training for students and staff around conflict mediation, restorative justice and restorative practices.
I am a college teacher with a passion for safe, equitable, and multicultural schools. As a parent I have given hundreds of hours of volunteer service to support schools. My children attend West, Whitman, and Madison Elementary schools. The job of a school board member is to listen to constituents, research policy, review use of resources, and be an advocate for our schools to be their very best. In Wauwatosa I have led projects to break down barriers and increase understanding, such as Tosa Together's dialogue project, establishing the city Equity and Inclusion Commission, and raising funds for Hartung Park. Last year I helped WSD win a 48K grant to expand restorative justice practices in our schools. I am excited to serve, I hope I have your vote!
